Location
Once the most important place in wider area, the castle hill of today seems to be stuck in strange timelessness. Hardly accessible castle with focus on presentation of kitschy life of its owner and his belongings, space around littered with fences and faux statues. Other parts lost under inconsiderate sprawl of gardens and family houses. Overgrown in non-maintained trees and shrubs, it seems almost like the castle hill is hiding in shame for being ignorant to its value, historical richness, layers of time and importance overall. This is hopefully just a short-lived dark era of thousands of years of being settled by humans. Center of gravity of past Radgona can once again actively participate in being part of the city. Shave its beard, dress up, welcome people from closest surroundings as well as tourists and become proud and aware of its own values.
Landscape interpretation and exposition of archaeological heritage on castle hill
Interpreting what once has been but left only tiniest traces, the museum is mostly work of landscaping and terraforming the hill. Marking out the perimeter of the prehistoric settlement and organizing the space so the visitors can experience the castle hill in its strong presence, in form closer to the prehistoric times. Clearly marked is the division of the settled land and empty spaces to set boundaries of coexistence of today’s inhabitants and the museum.
The exposition itself is located in the place, where two levels of berm creating the walk-able perimeter collide. With only smaller exposition of little objects found at the place. The museum works more with the programme that uses points of interest on the pathway. But these generous outside places also openly serve to public and especially the inhabitants of grajski grič to also improve the living quality of the area.
